چکیده

Capnocytophaga cynodegmi (formerly "DF-2 like organism"), a commensal organism of the canine oral cavity, is a capnophilic, gram-negative, facultative bacillus. C. cynodegmi has rarely been encountered in human diseases. We report the first known case of cellulitis, bacteremia, and pneumonitis caused by C. cynodegmi in a diabetic man from central India following a dog bite.

Draft Genome Sequences of Three Capnocytophaga cynodegmi Strains Isolated from the Oral Cavity of Healthy Dogs

Here, we present the draft genome sequences of three strains of Capnocytophaga cynodegmi. In contrast to the very close relationship among them, C. cynodegmi and Capnocytophaga canimorsus differ dramatically in terms of virulence in humans. Comparative genomics provided some understanding on how Capnocytophaga species may switch from being dog commensals to human pathogens.

Capnocytophaga cynodegmi peritonitis in a peritoneal dialysis patient.

The first reported case of peritonitis caused by Capnocytophaga cynodegmi is presented. The patient was treated with peritoneal dialysis and had contact with a cat. C. cynodegmi is part of the normal oral flora of dogs and cats but is very rarely isolated in clinical specimens from humans.

Urticarial exanthem associated with Capnocytophaga canimorsus bacteremia after a dog bite

H&E: hematoxylin-eosin INTRODUCTION Capnocytophaga canimorsus (Latin, canis, dog; morsus, bite) is a commensal gram-negative rod present in the oral flora of dogs; there are almost 500 reported infections, 60% of which have occurred after a dog bite, more than 80% after dog exposure, and more than 35% in the setting of alcoholism or splenectomy. Half of infections present with cutaneous manifes...

Rapid killing of Capnocytophaga canimorsus and Capnocytophaga cynodegmi by human whole blood and serum is mediated via the complement system

PURPOSE Capnocytophaga canimorsus (Cani) and Capnocytophaga cynodegmi (Cyno) are found in the oral cavities of dogs and cats. They can be transmitted to humans via licks or bites and cause wound infections as well as severe systemic infections. Cani is considered to be more pathogenic than Cyno, but the pathophysiological mechanisms are not elucidated. Cani has been suggested to be resistant to...
